Small Business Expo

All last week Brad and I were frantically trying to prepare for the Small Business Expo that was held here in town. We found out and signed up for it the week before. Brad and I decided to promote our roll-out shelf business, Shelf Discovery. We made fliers, business cards, a display sign, examples of roll-out shelves, a large picture display, and we even had to write a 15 second spotlight commercial. It was a lot of work! I don't think it was advertised very well but we still got some good leads on clients. The best part about it is that we were chosen to be featured in a home and garden insert that will be published and distributed in about eight different local newspapers. It sounded like we were the only business that was chosen for this so we are hoping the write-up is decent. Anyway, it comes out in about a week.

Here's what our table looked like:

The large shelf is for bottom cabinets, the smaller ones are for upper cabinets. They all have full extension.

It obviously isn't professional but for amateurs, we thought it turned out great.

The Next Soccer Star

I was at soccer practice tonight and Jorja was showing me how she could kick the ball so fast and move her legs like the big girls. Finally she looked up and said, "Mommy, when I play soccer I will be good!" That girl oozes confidence (except when she has to do chores...).

She gets to play soccer this fall. We can't wait! Brad even said he wants to coach her team so that will be really fun.

The Doctor Called...

So I received a phone call from my doctor's office last night saying that Jorja's throat culture came back positive for a mild strep throat. That was my original suspicion so I'm glad my motherly instinct was right again. Of course, with our fabulous health insurance this whole ordeal was just super, duper cheap for us!! (BTW, did you catch the sarcasm there?!) She's on an antibiotic now, just to make sure that nasty bug is gone for good. Happily, she is already feeling much better, even without the meds!
